For The Guests...

The Basics - from blog post 26/07/2010

During the months that lead up to our wedding we'll be blogging with SOME of the developments of the plans and preparations we're making. We say "some" because we've decided to do things a little differently... Together with some advice from other Wedding Professionals for any brides & grooms to be who may follow our blog.

Being involved in the Wedding Industry is a big plus when you're planning a Wedding of your own. We have access to some fantastic suppliers and therefore need very little assistance in sourcing and selecting suppliers to use for the various elements of our day. With all of this in mind we made a decision to keep as much of the key elements of the day a surprise for family and friends as possible... right down to the location of our actual ceremony. No, we're not famous... and therefore don't need to worry about the paparatzi... and we're certainly NOT being egotistical about choosing to plan things this way, we just thought it would be fun and a slightly unique approach.

So far, the basic logistics of the day are arranged as follows:

Arrivals at The DoubleTree Hilton
Light Brunch & Drinks
Transportation to the Ceremony Location via Coach (guests may opt to follow in their own vehicles)
The Ceremony, Wedding Breakfast & Evening Reception
Return transportation to The DoubleTree Hilton & The Travelodge

We're hoping that many of our guests will choose to join us from the Friday evening (for a buffet) through to lunchtime on the Sunday when we plan to head out along the River Cam for Punting & a Picnic (weather permitting of course!).

Fingers crossed that our guests are supportive of our idea to keep the venue as a surprise... but without doubt, all Weddings (certainly the vast majority of my clients have) experienced some form of issue or disagreement with family or friends during the planning stages... so, we're not holding our breath, perhaps just hoping for a smooth ride!

Accommodation (added 28/09/2010)

We hope that many of you will opt to book accommodation at The DoubleTree Hilton (please email us for the booking reference for the discounted rate that we have secured), but understand that this hotel may not suit everyone's budget. So, in addition to our recommendation of The DoubleTree, will also suggest the Travelodge which is located centrally in Cambridge.

Return transport from our venue will be made to both The DoubleTree and The Travelodge, but please be aware that you will need to make your own way to The DoubleTree for the morning reception.

Children (added 28/09/2010)

Children being invited to the wedding will recieve their own invitations from Evie in due course.
We have arranged for the Care Fairies to assist on the day (more information here) with overseeing of their meal and entertainment which should give Mums and Dads time to relax and enjoy their own meal (in peace...).
