The Groom...

It's all about HER....
Actually, that's rubbish... it's all about US!

The majority of grooms feel that is not there responsibility to get involved with the planning of their wedding, due to the perception of it being "The Bride's Day". That's as old fashioned as the Bride's parents paying for the day... the vast majority of couples are now paying for their own wedding which should encourage Grooms to take a more active role. I'm getting fully involved in every aspect of the planning (with exception to the bridal gown of course)! Being engaged to a top supplier within the Industry obviously has its benefits, but will my own ideas and thoughts be taken into account? The answer... YES... We have very similar tastes and thought processes and I know that every idea and concept will be discussed and decided on together.

Me... I'm Ed, I'm the right side of 30... and I'm engaged to Emma (she's more sensible than me... meaning she's older than me!).

I've been a chef for 15 years and have worked in some top Restaurants. I now run my own catering company (watch out a little business plug coming here) called "Feed Me Dining Ltd" specialising in Private Dining, Boutique Wedding Breakfasts & Rehearsal Dinners.

Lord of the Rings... searching for the ring (but not quite as feverishly as Gollum.... "My Precious")

Well... the search for the ring started in the January of this year. Emma and I were exhibiting at the Newmarket Wedding Show. During one of the catwalk shows I went on a little wander around the show to see some of the other exhibitors, this is where I stumbled upon Joe Villar from Hyde Park Design. I introduced myself to him and discovered that he and Emma already knew each other from previous wedding fayres.

I told Joe of my intention to propose to Emma and that I would like his involvement in the design and production of  the engagement ring. I gave him details of the budget and the shape and size of the diamond I wanted. We set a date for him to come to our house (while Emma was at work) to see a selection of diamonds which he thought would be suitable and also in budget.

Joe brought several diamonds for me to choose from, with help & advice I was able to decide on the right setting for the Diamond as I wanted it to be the most prominent feature of the ring. I was also able to choose the metal and shaping of the band.

6-weeks later, the ring is ready and the scene was set for proposal!
